As many of you know, I am a little long winded and this post will be a bit of the same. There is a lot to cover from last night’s event, the Children’s Hospital Benefit 1/4pt race at Flat Run Speedway.
First off, I need to thank several people for last night. Scott and Christine Fox for having us participate in their special event, and their daughter Lyndsay for being, by far, the toughest, kind hearted, and most positive little girl that I know for just being the brave trooper she is. Miranda, Beth, and the rest of the Flat Run crew for being so welcoming every time the UAS is there, even when we kept with tradition and brought rain when there was no chance of it all day. The drivers, crews, and families that traveled in all were super supportive, courteous, and generous in support of this event. Without all of you, we could not have done what we did yesterday or any other day for that matter. As for results, the first one I have is how generous the UAS was in donations to Children’s Hospital and the overall for the event. Let me say this blew me away and made me even more proud to be a part of this family of racers than I normally am. I was able to present to Lyndsay an envelope of $785.00 on behalf of the Unlimited All Stars!! The overall money raised from the raffles, donations, etc for the night was $2,253.00 - which I believe is the most raised overall for this event! They are planning on presenting this to the hospital at Lyndsay’s next visit in early August. Race results: We had 10 muscle karts come out for the night of racing. Kyle Pease, joined by Brian Lunn, came out of retirement for the event and the Lunn/Pease Motorsports combo looked like they had been running it all season long. Kyle claimed heats 1 and 2. Feature time and Pease, starting from the pole, jumped to a quick 5 kart length lead and stayed that way for most of the race. John Garde was closing in towards the end of the race but there was not enough time to challenge for the lead. Rich Jordal was right there within striking distance in the third spot. When the dust settled, Kyle Pease claimed the win, the Bergfelt Racing Enterprises LLC & American Muscle Kart winners payout along with TRAK Promotions “Underdog” bonus for being the highest finishing smaller displacement open with his BRC 150 - just ahead of Garde who was running a 135 Sudam. Finishing Order:
As the final season points race of 2022, we were able to get in 3 of the 5 events scheduled. The point title goes again to Steve Windle Jr! Season top 5:
Thanks again to everyone involved this season as it could not be done without all of you!!! Be sure to hit the Western NY and Central NY events leading up to the Northeast Divisional at Naugles this fall! Steve T
