Twenty-three muscle karts embarked on the oval at Race-1 Motor Speedway in Dubois, PA. Men and women from the Keystone and Upstate NY UAS and the Rebel Series came together to tame the 1/8 mile bullring. With so many drivers, heats were broken into 3 sections with the top 5 from each qualifying for the “A” Main. Remaining drivers raced it out for the 2 transfer spots from the “B” Main into the “A”. Making that transfer were the 22 of Kirk Cox and the 31 of Rich Jordal.
The “A” Main win went to the 12 of Kyle Pease who dominated both heats and cruised to a solid win the the feature. This was Pease’s first UAS feature win. Other firsts included Steve Cox, Jr picking up his first heat race win, and I need to note this was the most muscle karts to roll into Race-1 for a show (previous was 21). Here are the finish results from Sunday night: 1.) 12 Kyle Pease 2.) 77 Denny Furlow 3.) 70X Ron O’Neil 4.) XXX Brandon Oldham 5.) 925 Jimmy White 6.) 22 Kirk Cox 7.) 31 Rich Jordal 8.) Saturday, 6 muscle karts made their way to Cove Valley for the first KUAS 1/4 point race of the season. At the drivers meeting, Troy said the track was going to have lots of bite and it was going to be fast.. he was right. Lets get to the quick run down. Heat 1, a lot of position swapping as turns 1 and 2 bit a lot of drivers. There were a couple spins, most notably Harry McElhaney and Brandon Oldham spun. Mark Bergfelt tried to avoid but was unable to, sliding sideways into Oldham. Even though the B-99 hit on the motor side of his kart, the radiator on the opposite side broke ending his day. Oldham was able to continue on, but a solid dent remained in the side of the "Evil Twin". Finishing Order: 1.) 77x Dan Burket 2.) 707 Paul Deasey 3.)20 Hillary Truitt 4.) XXX Brandon Oldham 5) 12 Harry McElhaney 6)B-99 Mark Bergfelt - DNF- Radiator Heat 2 Another great race as positions were changing back and forth among the remaining 5 muscle karts. Burket made his way to the point and held on for Heat 2 win. Heat 2 Results 1.) 77x Dan Burket 2.)707 Paul Deasey 3.)XXX Brandon Oldham 4.)12 Harry McElhaney 5.) 20 Hillary Truitt - DNF - Ignition B-99 Mark Bergfelt DNS - Radiator Time for the feature and it was down to the final 4 running muscle karts to get top points. The green flag dropped and Burket checked out on the field. Great racing action through the rest of the pack as the race moved on. Burket finished with nearly a half lap lead on the field to sweep the night.
