The KUAS wrapped up the 2023 regular season Saturday at Naugle Speedway, joining the Three Rivers Clone Clash event in the hills of Western PA.
The event ran one round of heats and and then feature. Heat winner: 26 Troy Giberson After a couple of start attempts, the feature was rolling right along. There was a strong battle up front with Troy Giberson and Kyle Pease as they ripped around the high banked oval, with Rick Giberson right there in 3rd. Pease had to pull off with an exhaust pipe issue and that left the son- father duo to battle out the second half of the race. When the dust settled, Troy Giberson was able to hold off Rick for the win, Josh Bergfelt came across 3rd for his best KUAS finish of the season- just ahead of his dad Mark Bergfelt in the B-99. Rick Beery rounded out the finishers running a solid 5th place. Beery also was the recipient of the "Underdog" Small Open Engine Bonus presented by TRAK Promotions with his AIXRO XR50 wankel. Looking at the season overview, congratualtions to Kyle Pease who was able to secure the KUAS by a slim 2 points over Mark Bergfelt. Top 5 Points:

The KUAS made the second trip to Flat Run Speedway, this time it was for the second national 1/4 point race of the season and The Charlie Perrin Memorial race to raise money for the Four Diamonds Fund. Final tally shows over $3,500 was raised at the event to help children battling cancer get the life sustaining treatments they need.
Seven muscle karts made it to this event, looking to get an event in for the Grand National and Northeast Divisional rankings or improve from previous events. In the heat race, Kyle Pease raced his way from the tail starting spot to get the win and pole position for the feature. For the feature, just before the green flag, John Garde threw a chain on the backstretch prematurely ending his bid for back to back season wins at Flat Run. When the green flew, Pease took the lead and never looked back. Mark Bergfelt put the B99 in the second spot and had a great, clean race with Austin Suain (who was on his backup ride for the feature) through most of the feature. Suain’s header came loose but was still in place enough for him to finish it out. At one point with only a couple laps left to go, Bergfelt spun in the middle of turns 1 and 2 – Suain was in the right spot beside Bergfelt and righted Bergfelt’s kart who was able to keep rolling and hold onto second. Next stop for the KUAS is the final event of the season, August 26 at Naugle Speedway in an event with the Steel City Clone Clash and Keystone Outlaw Wing Karts. ** Rick Beery was the “Underdog” Bonus Award winner this week presented by TRAK Promotions with his AIXRO XR50. Steve T |
