A Wild Feature Wraps Up Goodhope Speedway 5/18/13
|
For all the folks that stayed for the final feature, the Keystone Unlimited All-Stars, they certainly were in for a treat. With multiple spins and one kart rolling away from the field, the fans certainly got a show. It was also pretty cool to see how many people came over to the drivers to ask them about their Muscle Karts and about the series and how the drivers were very courteous and willing to talk with them.
In Heat 1, Randy Adair looked strong in the 38, but an early spin that collected Rick Minnier and Hillary Truitt opened the door for Paul Deasey to take the lead where he would be when the checkers flew. Heat 1 1.) 707 Paul Deasey 2.) 12 Harry McElhaney 3.) 38 Randy Adair 4.) XXX Brandon Oldham 5.) 55 Joe "Ed" Mudrick 6.) 20 Hillary Truitt 7.) 22 Rick Minnier- DNF Heat 2 saw Rick Minnier take the early lead with the twin animals where he would be for the rest of the race. Randy Adair stayed right on his heals and at some time you could throw a blanket over the top 3. Despite giving all he had, Minnier was able to claim heat 2. Heat 2 1.) 22 Rick Minnier 2.)38 Randy Adair 3.) 707 Paul Deasey 4.) XXX Brandon Oldham 5.) 55 Joe "Ed" Mudrick 6.) 20 Hillary Truitt 7.) 12 Harry McElhaney- DNF Then it was feature time, which was something to see. Paul Deasey started on the pole and as soon as the green flag flew, he checked out from the field. Where it got interesting was how many drivers were bitten by turns 1 and 2. It seemed like if you got into second place, a spin was in your future. It was a tough race to call as postions changed so much. Cautions were not called causing the field to be spread from one end to another, mixed in with lap traffic as Deasey was truely on a rail Saturday night. I certainly felt for the scorer who had to make the final resutls. Feature 1.) 707 Paul Deasey 2.) XXX Brandon Oldham 3.) 12 Harry Mcelhaney 4.) 55 Joe "Ed" Mudrick 5) 22 Rick Minnier 6.) 38 Randy Adair 7.) 20 Hilary Truitt All in all, an exciting night of racing at Goodhope Speedway. Thanks again for all those drivers that came out. Also, thanks to Goodhope Speedway for openeing your doors for us! Deasey's win was his second in the KUAS and 1st of the 2013 campaign. We will be off until June 8th, when the muscle karts turn loose at Cove Valley. |

The KUAS Opened the Season at Naugle Speedway 5/4/13After a long winter of waiting, the Keystone Unlimited All-Star Muscle Karts opened the year at the "Bullring" that is Naugle Speedway. The weather couldn't be any better to open the season, with a slight overcast and temperatures in the mid 70's for the drop of the green. Eight muscle karts were in attendance, mixing in the familiar faces like 2011-12 KUAS Champion Randy Adair, Mark Bergfelt, Joe "Ed" Mudrick, and Harry McElhaney with some newer faces to All-Stars like Hillary Truitt and Brian Matheson.
Here are the results: Heats were split into A's and B's.
