A hot day in the Central PA mountains was the site of the next to last season race for the KUAS, Red Rock Raceway. This year we teamed up with the Empire series, who was hosting a 1/4 point race, to put on a show at the home of the 2019 Northeast Divisional.
The night was fast and racing was great - from each heat to the feature. However, bad luck was strong for a couple of the drivers. Eight muscle kart pilots took on the 1/8 mile highbanks that night. Heat 1 winner: 77F Denny Furlow Heat 2 winner: 12 Kyle Pease The feature saw the XXX of Brandon Oldham leading them to the line. Denny Furlow started on the outside pole and was able to get to the point spot quickly after the race started. First caution was for a flat tire on the B-99 of Mark Bergfelt, his second right rear to come off the bead of the night. The first time, it ended his run in the second heat. Mark's bad luck started in heat 1 when the studs on his left rear sheared off, causing a spin with one lap left. Ok, back to the feature. Oldham, who was running his first race of the season, was running in contention when he suddenly slowed on the track and threw his hand up. Word is that his carb pulled off of his YZ250F and put an end to his chances. Following that caution, the race continued green flag. Furlow tried to hold onto 2nd, but his tires were fading and the 7 of Dan Burket was rolling. Burket was able to catch the 12X of Kyle Pease who shuffled his way to the point spot. Lap after lap, Pease and Burket were nearly nose to tail, cleanly making it around the track and through traffic. When the final flag was waving, Kyle Pease claimed another KUAS victory. Feature results:
Thank you to Chuck, Verna, and the whole Red Rock crew for giving us a fast track to get around. Despite the high heat and sun, dust was minimal, the track was in great shape, and the facility was once again top notch. Next race is the final race of the season, the John Smith Memorial race at Blairsville Speedway on August 17th. This is a 1/4 point race for the KUAS and we will be joined by the Empire UAS. See you there! Steve T

It was a dicey day weather wise for our trip to Pittsfield Championship Karting Association, but we got it in!! Rain was all around and even in the afternoon of the event, but the track workers stayed on it to give us a surface to race. This was a special Saturday show, sponsored by Chautauqua Machine Sprockets - for the UAS and the Mini Outlaws. Weather was a factor in turnout, as there was 6 muscle karts to take on the three sided speedway.
All 6 muscle karts were running at the end of the event which went green flag the entire way! When it was all said and done, Kyle Pease claimed the win once again in the region and added to his points total lead. Results:
I was another fun night of racing. Even though there were few karts on the track, Tim - Larry - Bob - Jason- and rest of the Pittsfield crew busted their backsides to make sure we could get the event in. I cannot say enough considering how much rain and how ominous the skies looked around the track. They definitely have my thanks!! Next stop is the home of the 2019 Northeast Divisional - Red Rock Raceway on July 24th. See ya’ll there!! Steve T |
