On July 9th at Stonybrook Speedway, in Stoystown, Pennsylvania, as the karts took to the track for practice the sky and the temperature was perfect. Practice went well and everyone came off the track excited. But as the drivers went to the grid for the first heats, the skies were threatening.
1st Heat line up:
12-Kyle Pease 51A-Steve Windle Jr.
15-Bob Windle 99-Justin Gilbert
54-Terry Hollifield 6-Tommy Voltze
919-Brett Mesler 12x-Harry McElhaney
B99-Mark Bergfelt 63-Ben Taft
707-Paul Deasey
Bob Windle didn't make it off the grid do to a starter problem. A spin out causes a single file start. Justin Gilbert worked his way to the front and lead for a good while till it appeared his left side panel came loose and dug into the track hard causing him to spin out in front of the whole field coming out of turn 4. Luckily everyone worked around him. Terry Hollifield and Brett Mesler dropped out around the middle of the race.
The finish was: 51A, 12, 63, 707, B99, 12x, with 54 and 919 not finishing.
2nd Heat line up:
7x-Eric Grice 45-Andy Pritt
77-Bobby Baldwin 13B-Mike Barrios

431-Zac Lamb 79-Dan Burkett
38-Ed Mudrik 22-Jeff Drugan

Brandon Oldham was moving through the field towards the lead when he spun out with no Caution being thrown, which put him about 1/2 a lap behind the field with 6 laps to go. John Garde was charging up through the field but ran out of laps.

Steve Windle Jr took off with Mark Bergfelt and Kyle Pease not far behind. A few laps into the race the first caution came out and Bergfelt dropped out due to chain failure. At the restart it looked like Steve was going to win easily until another caution came out.
As the Green dropped John Garde moved to the front and never looked back. John was untouchable once he got to the clean air! . Tommy Voltez tangled up with Justin Gilbert and destroyed his kart and almost himself. Justin’s kart wasn't too bad but he received a
broken finger from the encounter. It was a very clean race with some good passing.
Feature Finish: 72, XXX, 77, 919, 51A, 7X, 79, 63, 13B, 431, 3P, 15, 12X
DNF was 45, 12, 99, 6, 707, 22, 38, B99, 54
Upon completion of the race the barbecue was started. 25 T-bones and 5 Porterhouse steaks hit the grill. Troy Lamb and his Wife took over and passed out a Steak to every Driver and Administrator. There were a few left over which the track crew was happy to help get rid of. Eric Grice was busy all afternoon smoking some turkey, chicken, and pork. That stuff melted in your mouth. Ron Pritt made some corn on the cob wrapped in bacon. It took a long while to cook but it was well worth the wait. Other people supplied paper plates, cookware, and cups. After everyone was stuffed we gathered around the bonfire. Steve Windle supplied some more drinks. I think Andy Pritt might have had one or two. As the fire was burning the purse was passed
out. It was well over $3000 and everyone got a piece of it. A Jacket was awarded, A Seay Wing was awarded, A Carb Rebuild by Flow Fire Racing was awarded. Then Troy Lamb brought a whole pile of presents ranging from a grill, a portable cooler, Tee shirts, Hats and much more. So much that everyone received something. It was very nice to be able to spend some time together with our Racing Family. There were people standing around the fire well into the morning. Hope we can turn this into a yearly event.
