The KUAS wrapped up the 2021 season with the drivers taking on "The Bullring" Naugle Speedway. This event was the week before the UAS Nationals and some of the region drivers were on the road to Washington State. With that being said, on a beautiful night in the Appalachians, there were five drivers looking to get a final chance at a win.
Racing was clean and kept getting faster as the night progressed. Joel Dell won both heats and was looking to take the feature. Heat racing was tight and back and forth between Dell and Steve Windle Jr. When it came o the feature, it was more of the same. Dell started on the pole and Windle had several chances to get his nose in and try to grab another KUAS win. However, Dell was able to get his 450 powered MRC Chassis dialed in and hold on for his first UAS win. Feature Order:
The second place finish secured the series championship for Steve Windle Jr. Final Series Top 3 in Points:
Don't forget the Northeast Divisional at Caroga Creek, hosted by Central NY UAS is coming up in October. Have a great off season and please feel free to contact me throughout the winter about the series and any ideas the series can consider. Steve T

The KUAS rolled into Flat Run Speedway for the second 1/4pt race of the season. Half a dozen karts were able to make it up to Allport on a day that had rain keeping folks from traveling.
Once that feature got rolling, it looked like Branon Oldham was going to pick up from his Outlaw Sprint race the week before and get the win. It was a solid battle between him, Joel Dell and Steve Windle Jr trying to grab that point spot. Oldham ended up dropping back as his axle shifted, however it looked like Dell was going to pick up his first UAS win. They raced tight and clean and when the checkered flag was waving, Steve Windle Jr was able to hold on for the win. Finish Order:
Steve T The Keystone UAS traveled out to Penns Creek Raceway Park for the next stop in the 2021 campaign. The field of 5 started the night, with some drivers unable to make this weekend's trip. When the feature came around, a hard charging Ernie Confer -who was looking for his first KUAS win- had the rear gear hub blow apart as he was closing in on the leader, Steve Windle Jr. Windle was able to hold on and finish the race with another season win.
Feature Results:
With the win, Steve Windle Jr moves to a tie in overall points with Josh Bergfelt on top of the leader board. Based on overall wins, Windle has the advantage going into the final 2 season races. Next race is August 28, 2021 at Flat Run Speedway for the 2nd National 1/4 point race of the season. Steve T On a ripping hot Saturday, the Keystone UAS traveled to their first eastern PA stop of the year at Hunterstown Speedway. Of the eight muscle karts that started the event, 3 of them were the first time their karts were out this year and 1 other was in his first UAS race. It made for some interesting testing and many little bugs caused most of the attrition in the event.
The track was smooth and hard when features came around. Of the eight that started the day, three made it to the feature. Despite Ernie Confer picking up 4 tenths from the heat to the feature, it wasn't enough to run down Steve Windle, Jr, who claimed both heats as well. Josh Bergfelt continued to show improvements in this race and finished a strong third. Feature Results:
So many people to thank for this event - as always the drivers who come out to put on the show, Jody Pritt and the rest of Hunterstown Speedway for an incredible track and smooth running show, Hunterstown Kart Club for adding to the purse so everyone walked away with something, everyone who stopped by to ask questions and check out the rides. Also, although it was a tough first day, it was nice to have Jesse Short take some laps with us. Next up is a trip to the second dirt triangle of the season, Penns Creek Raceway on August 7, 2021. Steve T The Keystone UAS made the trip to the Northern PA triangle, Pittsfield Championship Karting Association, for the first 3 sided track race of the year. This race was sponsored by Chautauqua Machine Sprockets - the leader in getting high horsepower to the ground, reliably, and affordably.
Racing was fast and clean with very limited cautions. The tweaking of the track design and the addition of new clay made for a very smooth surface and provided a lot of great action all night. Nearly all of the 6 muscle karts started the feature, only one unable to was the 83 of Ernie Confer. A bent gear hub in the 1st heat kept dumping the chain. As for the feature, Steve Windle Jr parked it for his first win at Pittsfield. Josh Bergfelt came in second and Tara Lawrence held on for the final podium spot. Finish Order: 51A Steve Windle Jr
All in all a good night up north, no injuries and no major breakdowns. It was also great to catch up with some good friends we see only a handful of times a year! Thank you to Tim, Jason, Larry, and the whole crew at Pittsfield for allowing us to turn some laps on a very nice track, all the prep involved. Also, thank you to Denny and Cindy Furlow - Chautauqua Machine Sprockets - for sponsoring the night's event. Check them out for your sprockets and other machining needs. Next race is the first 1/4pt venture of the season - a trip to Hunterstown Speedway. Steve T 2021 got underway mid May with a trip to Flat Run Speedway with the Western NY UAS to tame the Allport oval. Kyle Pease rolled to the season opening win.
The second race at Blairsville was rescheduled due to rain and having an open spot in the original schedule. KUAS veteran Harry McElhaney was able to hold on to claim the win. Although the season is still young, there is a lot of great action, feedback, and future optimism that is surrounding the KUAS! Next event is a trip to Pittsfield Championship Karting Association for the first of two triangular tracks in the schedule. Steve T The shortened 2020 KUAS season came to an end at Blairsville Speedway last night for the John Smith Memorial 1/4 point event. It was a nail biter for weather, as it has been a hot dry year until KUAS race weekends and this was no exception. However, despite have 80% chance of rain posted the night before, Saturday gave us a mild temperature - relatively clear sky evening that was perfect for racing!!
Heat winners: Steve Windle Jr - Brett Mesler The feature was a clean race, only a couple cautions for spins by Josh Bergfelt as he is still getting used to piloting a muscle kart. The late cautions set up a final couple lap shootout and Steve Windle was able to hold on for the win. Feature:

Also, thank you to everyone who madethe short seaosn possible, from tack owners/promoter- sponsors - fans - and especially the drivers!! Without all of you, this is not possible. Next events are the upcoming Grand National and Northeast Divisional! Steve T Getting back on the track, the KUAS stopped at Stateline Speedway for their first 1/4 point race of the season. It was a toasty day in southern NY, but the racing was good and smooth. The event saw the first race for Josh Bergfelt, piloting the B-99 for his dad Mark. Also was great to see Mike Clark come over for an event.
Heat winners were Kyle Pease and Bob Windle. Kyle Pease was able to get the power to the ground and pull off another series win! Feature:
Thank you goes out to Stateline Speedway and putting together a smooth track for the day race! Next stop is Blairsville Speedway - August 29th for the John Smith Memorial 1/4 point event. Steve T In this unpredictable 2020 season, the Keystone UAS swapped venues to be with the Keystone State Series at Red Rock Raceway on June 6th. Initially, the race was to be held at Hunterstown Speedway, however, with trying to get races in, it was more feasible to change venues and go from there.
Congratulations to Dane Mathias who picked up the win and took home the cash!! Next event is July 27th as the KUAS will see who can tame the “Bullring” Naugle’s Speedway in Aliquippa, PA. Steve T Hello all as we get ready for another season of muscle kart racing in Pennsylvania! My apologies for a delay in getting the schedule out, it has been another fun year of jockeying dates. This schedule is not yet complete, but it will be a good base to know when we open and the events we are trying to book. Depending on how those days play out will determine the 1st quarter point race of the season. When I get the changes, I will edit the post to reflect the changes. The schedule will stay pinned up top in Facebook. April 18* - Race-1 Motorspeedway - Test N Tune / Exhibition - as part of the Preduro 500-Dubois,PA May 16th- *open for possible date* May 2nd - Flat Run Speedway - Season Points opener w/Upstate NY June 6th - Hunterstown Speedway w/ Keystone State Series -Gettysburg, PA June 27th- Naugle Speedway W/ WPA Mini Outlaws - Aliquippa, PA July 11th - Pittsfield Championship Karting Association w/ Western PA Mini Outlaws-Pittsfield,PA August 15 - Stateline Speedway, Busti NY - w/ Vega Series August 29 - Blairsville Speedway - John Smith Memorial 1/4 Pt The schedule is in accordance with Upstate NY and leaving the days open to travel to the site of the Northeast Divisional, AMS, so there will be lots of days to practice there. Also, this season we are looking for season & individual race sponsorship and end of year awards sponsorship for 2020. Whether it be cash or product, please let me know so I can get started on a traveling sponsorship banner and making sure you and/or your business is featured on all publications, this website, Facebook, and Twitter!! All money and items sponsored to the series goes back to the drivers! Thanks again and I look forward to a safe and successful 2020! Steve T (814) 538-9867 cell [email protected] |
