An impromptu race at Blairsville Speedway was in order for those who were looking to test without points pressure, get one last one in the year, or just to get out on the Indiana PA area red clay. For whatever the reason, the UAS were welcomed to be a part of Oktoberfest. Engine issues and prior obligations limited the field, but there was great racing and a great way to make an impression with the muscle karts. Temperatures by feature had cooled to the mid 40's and the only time we saw the sun was when it was heading down over the hills.
The track was wet after recent rain and unlike the last time, was not able to seal off and stayed soft and tacky all night. Dan Burket tested with his Cr250, which saw the checkers first in both heats. When the feature came around, it was Mark Bergfelt and his Vindicator holding off a very hard charging Burket for the win. Harry McElhaney crossed in third with his 125 Sudam. All though the class was thin, the night was still a lot of fun. A lot of questions were asked about the series, setups, and the exposure to many folks who have never seen these before. I have to thank Pete for letting us come out and even adding to the purse (which was evenly given back to the drivers) even though only three were there. I cannot thank them for their support of muscle kart racing and kart racing in general throughout the years, Next item for the KUAS is working on a 2017 schedule. I have heard of a closing of a track in the region and the expansion of a track that could be a part of the season. Feel free to message me on Facebook, [email protected] or the contact sheet on here, @kuas89 on Twitter. Thank you again to all the tracks, sponsors, drivers, friends, and fans for the support in 2016! Steve T
